SRIMANTA SANKARDEV KALASHETRA :

Srimanta Sankardev Kalashetra in the late 1998 and named after the greatest Vaishnava Saint and greatest integrator of the Assamese Society, Srimant Sankaradeva in order to celebrate the cultural identity of the Assamese by promoting dance, drama, music and art.

Srimanta Sankardev Kalashetra features a Central Museum where cultural objects and articles of everyday use by the different ethnic groups are preserved and exhibited. Srimanta Sankardev Kalashetra is also known for its Sahitya Bhavan which is well preserved Library. It has a huge collection of rare books and manuscripts. It has a open air Theatre which can be accommodate 2000 people to hold fold festivals and to present traditional dance and drame of the state. Srimanta Sankardev Kalashetra is also home to an Artists’ Village, where an atmosphere of the village of Assam has been recreated for the visitors to experience.
