GUWAHATI ZOO & BOTANICAL GARDEN :

The Zoo at Guwahati is the largest natural Zoo in India and among the most visited attractions in the city. The Zoo is located in the lush greenery of the Hengrabari Reserved Forest and the Botanical Garden is called Guwahati’s green retreat for its showcases the bio-diversity of the North East.

The Guwahati Zoo encompassing over 130 hectares of land and found in the year 1957, boasts of an astonishing collection of some rare and extinct species of wild animals settled comfortably in their natural habitat. The whiter tigers, one horned rhinos, Swamp tapirs and leopards to name a few, rule the roost and the hearts of the visiting tourists.

The Zoo also prosperous in the avian branch and plays host to rare species of birds. It is also amazing to see the collection of the rich and rare ornithological species. Wide variety of flora that is found scattered all over the Zoo.

In the year 1982, inside of the Zoo the Botanical Garden built on over 82 hectares of land. The Botanical Garden is enriched with wide range of Palms, Herbs, shrub, conifers and Broad leaves of plants as well as collection of Orchids. The Orchid house in the Botanical Garden includes more than 45 different varieties of rare Orchids.Guwahat
