Places to Visit in Darjeeling Local Sightseeing Tiger Hill On a clear day the summit of Tiger Hill commands the view of Kurseong Town to its south-west along with plains of North Bengal and number of major rivers like Teesta, Mahanadi, Balasun & Mechi meanders down to the south.
At the centre of Batasia Loop a War Memorial stands. This memorial was constructed by the District Sainik Board, Darjeeling in commemoration of the brave Gorkha Soldiers, who sacrificed their life to protect the sovereignty of the Nation since independence. This memorial was sanctified on 22nd March, 1995. Local people throng here to seel handicrafts and woolen items for tourists.

Lepchajagat – literally means the place of Lepcha people or Lepcha community. Lepcha people are originally from Sikkim. But now spread over in Bhutan, Tibet, Nepal, Darjeeling hills. Lepchajagat is a very small village in wilderness with an altitude of around 7000 ft above the sea level. The village is covered by wild forests of rhododendron, pine and oak with bounty of natural beauty. Mount Kanchenjunga with its surrounding peaks stands with its full might on the north-eastern side of Lepchajagat. This is an ideal place for nature lovers to stay in an offbeat place with a blend of nature and peace. The only sound here is chirping of numerous birds during day time and the sound of cricket after the evening. |

Sittong is spread over a in vast area and combined by cluster of villages also called “ Sittong Khas Mohol” located in Kurseong division. Sittong has become an Orange Pot of Darjeeling Districts because of its numerous Orange Orchards. During winter it seems that Sittong hills are painted with Orange colour. Apart from Orange Orchards, Sittong is blessed with natural bounty. Covered with dense forests, it has also become a Bird Watchers’ paradise. Located on around 4500 ft above the sea level, Sitong also offers some short treks in and around. Mungpo, which is famous for Cinchona Farm land also blessed by Rabindranath Tagore because he stayed a long time here. |

Chatakpur - a sleepy hamlet in Darjeeling district above Sonada town is located at an altitude of almost 7900 ft above the sea level offers a panoramic view of Mt. Kanchenjunga and its surrounding peaks. It’s a sparsely populated village . Chatakpur comes in the periphery of Senchel Reserve Forest and showered with an abundant Flora & Fauna. A short walk from the village to Chatakpur Watch Tower is worth viewing the excellent view of Sandakphu, the trekkers’ paradise along with a vast range of Eastern Himalaya. A short trek from Chatakpur to Tiger Hill is enthralling with viewing the Kanchenjunga massif and other neighbouring peaks. On a very clear day, lucky ones can also get glimpses of Mount Everest. |
