Online booking of Hotels in Kolkata and other cities in Eastern India and the North – East may prove to be a challenge from January 16, 2019 with the Hotel and Restaurant Association of Eastern India severing ties with two of the largest portals, i.e MAKE MY TRIP AND GOIBIBO, that together constitute half of the online booking pie.
An HRAEI spokesperson said the Association had decided to stop taking booking from Make My Trip and Goibibo for charging hefty commission from Hotel Owners and then offering indiscriminate discounts to customers. The decision to break ties with these two portals was unanimous taken by the HRAEI managing committee. HRAEI, which is the largest hospitality body in Eastern India, has 13 states in its fold and its members own over 600 hotels with an inventory of over 25,000 rooms.
“ Bookings made on Goibibo and Make My Trip will not be honoured after January 15, 2019. We have asked all members to terminate the contact with these tow portals”, said HRAEI President.
