Things to do / Activities in Chilapata Forest - Dooars :

Nalraja Garh :

One of the major attractions of Chilapata forest is Nalraja Garh or the fort of Nal kings. This fort is located in the deep inside of the forest and has historical and archaeological  importance. The Nalraja Garh was built during the Gupta period in 5th century. Although the fort has become a ruin due to lack of maintenance, still it reminds the golden era of the Gupta dynasty. It is also called “ the Mendabari ruins”.

It is said that the fort was excavated by Sudhin De in 1986-87. The Mendabari fort was identified to be one of the frontier fortifications of the region then known as “ Pundrabardhan Bhukti”.

Jungle Safari :

Jungle Safari in Chilapata is really enticing. While cutting through the green dense forest wall of the forest it has always chances to see wild animals. There is a watch tower beside Torsha river, where there are very chances to see wild life. As there are plenty of grasslands which are favourite for rhino, deer, elephant etc.

Other activities in Chilapata forest are Tonga ride through tea gardens, boating on Bania river and the angling on the confluence of the river Kalchini, Bania and Buri Basra.
