Fambong Wild Life Sanctuary

Fambong Wild Life Sanctuary is located 25 kms away from Gangtok town with a designated area of 51.76 sq. km. This Sanctuary is enriched by Oak, Katus, Kimbu, Champa and Bamboo tree and ferns with a home of large number of Orchids, Rhododendron etc. Fambong Wild Life Sanctuary is a tranquil area especially recommended for bird watching and for nature lovers as it is know to be a home for various species of wild animals and birds.

 For the adventure lovers it has developed a short trekking trail as it is near to Gangtok town. The ideal time to visit the sanctuary is in April and October, when the wild orchids, named and unnamed Flowers and Rhododendrons are on their full bloom with a riot of colours.
