Dhupjhora in Dooars is situated on the south Gorumara forest range and on the western bank of Murti river. Dhupjhora is also knowns as “ Elephant Camp” because of Pilkhana – the elephant stable of Gorumara National Park. Dhupjora Elephant Camp popularly known as Gachbari or tree house is an unique concept of eco tourism by the forest department. It is also called Gorumara Elephant Camp.Dhupjhora is an ideal place to enjoy the jungle from the core with chances to seeing wild animals nearby. Strolling on the bank of river Murti or on the river bed is also very exiting. Watching sunset from the Murti river bed is a life long memory.
Gachbari or Dhupjora Elephant Camp is an place where people visiting Gorumara National Park must stay overnight. Surrounded by deep forest, lush green tea gardens and the meandering river it has its own watch tower and elephant riding. Watch tower is the near by of the river Murti and from the tower the panoramic view of the park, river Murti and vast grasslands are seen. There is a salt reservoir below the tower. So the gentle but firm steps of one horned rhinos or elephants can be expected at any moment. Indian bisons, deers or horde of hornbills are also be seen in a distant way from the tower.
