Chopta Valley

At an altitude of 13,200 ft and just 20 minutes drive from Thangu, Chopta valley is relatively unexplored destination of   Sikkim and is isolated by lofty mountains normally uninhabited apart from the seasonal nomads. But gradually it is becoming a tourist hot-spot. Chopta Valley is enriched by its breathtaking beauty of lofty snow capped peaks, alpine forests, rhododendron forests and wild orchids. Chopta Valley offers an unique experience of walking on meandering rivers which flow through the valley. From this valley one can get a closer view of glacial mountain walls towards the western side. During summer this valley is covered by wild flowers with multiple hues, lush green meadows, numerous fountains and meandering rivers which  are replaced by thick layers of snow and frozen rivers during the winter to become a quite inhospitable place. Adventurous trek to Muguthang valley leads from here.
